What Do You Think About Cake Icing?

Some years ago, i personally detested cake making because you have to dip your finger into some kind of "mess". Especially eggs! I hate the smell of egg yolks! I remembered when i finished my Event Decoration course, my mentor told me to opt in for Cake Making but i immediately turned her down for the same reason; "mess!"

Fast forward to my birthday some years back, my elder sister made me a cake over a kerosine stove because we couldn't afford to buy one. I was happy, I watched her do the "batter thing" (sugar and butter mixing, i wouldn't want my hands stained)! Then i helped her out during baking, since it was baked over a kerosine stove, we had to sit and watch the cake closely so that the stove won't run out of fuel. Great! The cake was out and it was good, she intended we "ice the cake" but i objected (for same reason...lol) cos i knew she would ask me to assist her with the eggs! But guess what? I made do with the cake like that......uniced! Awwwww! sounds awkward! As i presented cake on my birthday, i could see the expressions on the faces on my guests......some of them were like...."is dis a cake?" well well, i had a happy birthday but i decided my next birthday cake would sure be iced no matter what hatred i had for eggs!

Now let me ask, do you think it is necessary to Ice a Cake? These are what i discovered after i become a baker.

1. When you ice a cake, you are giving it a cuter look. A cake becomes attractive when it is iced.
2. Icing a cake, helps preserve its moisture.
3. Icing a cake helps reserves its taste.
4. It traps freshness and savor in the cake.

You will discover more as you "Ice The Cake!" Have a good afternoon.
